The first step is the takeover. We read the code and its dependencies, work out what can ship without a rewrite, and price the rest item by item.
We rarely recommend starting again. If it does come to that, we say so before touching the app.
Take it on, or start again
An app people already open carries value a rewrite throws away. Taking it on and repairing it stays cheaper for as long as there is something to build on.

- Will you build a new app from scratch?
- We usually arrive at an app that already exists. A new build can be agreed, though its scope and price are set separately, because building is not the same work as taking over.
- Someone else wrote our app. Is that a problem?
- No, that is the usual starting point. The first thing we do is read the code and its dependencies so you know what state the app is in.
- Who owns the source code?
- You do, and the store accounts with it. Checking you actually hold them is part of every takeover, because that is the one thing a previous supplier most often holds on to.
- Do you do iOS and Android?
- Both. We worked on the running app across the two, and VIAC AKO NI(c)K holds steady on both.
